Eco-explore Stewart Island & Fiordland
Always wanted to visit Stewart Island or Fiordland beyond the end of the road? With magnificent scenery ranging from the grandeur of Milford Sound, Dusky Sounds myriad islands and anchorages to the diversity of remote Port Pegasus "Talisker" will take you into two of New Zealand more unspoilt regions.
On board Talisker whether your interest is Eco Watch or General Scenic we can take you places and show you things you will always remember. If you want that extra background we have available an expert Ornithologist and Botanist to assist. You will see a variety of seabirds from the tiny "Mother Carys Chickens" to the magnificent Royal & Wandering Albatross'. While Yellow Eyed Penguins are endangered elsewhere you will see these solitary birds regularly. Sail past Fur Seal colonies and maybe see the rare Hookers Sea-lion. Wake to the sound of Kakas laughing in the trees around the anchorages.
Botanise through virgin Rata / Kamahi / Podocarp Forest, Beech Forest or up into wind swept southern alpine herb fields.
Stewart Island is a naturalists paradise with over 20 plant species, three lizards and 33 invertebrates endemic to the Island.
